Being quiet during the concert is not what BRISK does in this programme, because it is all about the interaction between spoken words and music, a concert in which the musicians are allowed to talk in between the music. The four recorder players say a poem while playing the notes of Johnny Buy by Theo Abazis, and fragments of children’s voices and evangelists on Time Square are to be heard in Jesus is coming by Jacob TV. This concert includes a new work by Renske Vrolijk for recorders and live electronics, based on sampled fragments of early music. The new compositions are alternated with early music based on texts by Willaert, Sandrin, and others.
